Building huge garden planters from old wood planks. Grow your own food!

Perhaps we all have junk in our homes that hurt us every time we look at it... "It has value" we say! We had a huge pile of old wood that was excavated from the house during a renovation. These old fir planks are strong, and beautiful, in all their rustic glory, but Aaron had no idea what to do with them. They also happened to be in a wide variety of lengths and widths. Mostly they're 1x6"...ish.

With the world changing rapidly, we would like to be more self-sufficient. Our plan is to start growing some of our own fruits and vegetables this spring.

Hunter had a great idea. Let's build some garden planters, and make them nice and tall so Ollie can't jump in them! Luckily Aaron loves building things, or in other terms, Adult Lego.

Materials:

(4) 30" 2x4"

(10) 24" 1x6" planks

(10) 48" 1x6" planks

(80) 2.5" deck screws

These planters are tall! Much taller than the average. Turns out soil will cost a fortune, so we'll have to use filler. We're new to this!

The yard is really coming together this year...
